The news site The Sun reports that on Thursday, 9th September, the popular social media app Instagram went offline for thousands of ‘Instagrammers’ in the UK. The app’s services were disrupted as early as 9.45am, as evidenced by thousands of complaints detailing the outage on the online outage trackre site Down Detector. These complaints described issues with the app as well as the ‘server connection’.

Online outage tracker Down Detector logged thousands of complaints about the app. Many users experienced difficulties in loading their feed, leaving them unable to see updates posted by other accounts. Users took to Twitter to share their dismay over the disruption. The cause of the outage remains unclear, and Instagram has been asked for comment.
